Worst experience ever!! It took them 5 hours to move 13 pieces of furniture from the basement. They had not even started the main floor. We had moved all the boxes so there was only the furniture. I phoned James to express my concerns. He assured me he was an honorable man and gave me his word that he would adjust the hours to a number we agreed on. When he came to collect, the number changed and he wanted more. My son spoke up and said that that was not what we agreed on. There was an argument that erupted between James and my son that I thought would end in a fist fight. I told James to leave my house immediately or I would call the police. Worst moving company ever!!

1-Star for the amazing hard working men that did my move on February 1st. The staff are MVP's!

The ownership not so much.

At $180/hr to the max. we agreed to and yet it wasn't cool to find James, (owner), hiding in the bedroom laying down on multiple occasions while the other two worked their butts off! Laying down, f'ing around, and I had to find out in the end. The other two were focused on getting the job done and delivered. Sad I didn't think to slip John my business card, so we could talk about my charity work more 🙁

Absolutely no accountability. Be VERY careful to only communicate in WRITING. I had an emergency move and a budget. After reaching out via e-mail, Gail responded with expedience! I called James' number to discuss details and availability. I wrote everything down as we spoke (as I do), explained my situation in graphic detail: a lot of stuff, 1 bedroom, max. budget, materials to pack, and moving. James told me he doesn't like to communicate in writing and prefers talking on the phone (hmmm I wonder why?).

I requested an e-mail confirmation with estimate for packing AND moving in writing. The estimate was to include how long it would take. Also advised in writing that I was requesting a PACK and move more than one time, mentioned twice over the phone... but somehow it's MY fault that James underestimated so significantly that the final bill was double the maximum budget agreed upon over the phone (I don't think this guy knows that verbal contracts are still contracts? Harder to enforce, but I have enough in writing), that we discussed for the move. He never looked at my initial e-mail, but referred back to it in an effort to try to lay the blame on me. I can understand human error, if he's too busy to manage the managerial aspect of his business, but to try to put it on me is grossly outrageous!

Overall, the movers are respectful and the workers are VERY hard working, fast, make it extremely easy to unpack and be organized. I'm in awe of how perfectly intact they delivered delicate items with only one casualty (a lamp which is no big deal).

$180/hr and I found the owner laying in a bedroom while the other guys worked. He'd walk around and look at stuff for a bit. James shared that's it's been slow for a while, so he's not in the groove he would typically be in. I kept having to ask him to make sure he packed specific items and he kept forgetting. He forgets a lot... and it will always be everyone else's fault.

I get it. He was overwhelmed because he forgot that I needed packing. James took an Uber to go pick up materials and probably wants me to pay for that too, but N.O. I arranged for packing in advance and will not be paying for his mess up. Acted like I should have been grateful he didn't have to taxi all the way to his site... ...I booked packing and moving, so it's not a me problem you forgot the packing materials).

Desperate attempts to lay the blame on me solely, and charge me, for his mistakes was stressful. His excuses ranged from how, I, the customer, should have intimate insider knowledge of how movers have to operate, industry standards, and other baloney. It was my fault that he forgot his quote/estimate. James insisted he doesn't make mistakes and never forgets, but a look at the 1-Star reviews here show me that simply isn't true. I knew I wouldn't be the only one that has run into this type of thing with James.

A couple hundred dollar difference upon completion could be explainable. Double the maximum budget we agreed upon is outrageous!

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Fort Moving: Lack of Accountability and Damaged Furniture.

I recently engaged Fort Moving to handle my house move on November 10, 2023. Initially, I chose this company for their reputed services and their assurance of the safe transportation of my furniture. However, my overall experience with Fort Moving has left me deeply disappointed and dissatisfied.

During the move, a one-of-a-kind painting, which held immense sentimental and financial value, was carelessly damaged. To my dismay, one of the movers later admitted to not properly wrapping the painting, leading to its unfortunate damage. The owner, James, who present during the moved was made anware of the damaged painting and assured me that I we would be reimbursed for the painting.

Unfortunately, almost two months have passed since our conversation, and I am yet to receive any communication or reimbursement from Fort Moving. The lack of follow-up and accountability from the company is concerning and has only added to my frustration and inconvenience. This prolonged wait for resolution has left a sour taste in my mouth.

As someone who entrusted Fort Moving with the safe transportation of my valuable possessions, I expected a higher level of professionalism and promptness in addressing the damage caused. The failure to deliver on their promise of reimbursement has significantly diminished my trust and confidence in their services.

I would caution others considering Fort Moving to thoroughly evaluate their options and be aware of the potential risks involved. While they may have previously garnered a positive reputation, my personal encounter with their services has been far from satisfactory. Their failure to fulfill their commitment and provide timely reimbursement for the damaged painting has left me deeply dissatisfied.

I hope that Fort Moving takes this feedback constructively and improves their communication and accountability towards their customers.

I am a local Realtor and see many moving companies that my clients use. I recently recommended Fort Moving to a senior client of mine who was moving from a family home in Sherwood Park. Once again they were simply outstanding. The movers were kind, funny & efficient during what can be a difficult move. They adjusted to requiring an extra truck with grace and easily accommodated her needs. Every time I have clients use them they have nothing but good feedback for me. Thanks again Fort moving!

Highly recommend this company! I called several moving companies and while all their prices were comparable Fort Movers stood out at the very beginning with my first interaction with Gail. (I hope I remembered her name right). She was welcoming and professional and just plain likeable. She was well informed in regards to cost and man power etc. The movers were prompt, professional, friendly and very hard working. They went above and beyond, even offering to repair some furniture which was done immediately and well. Their attitudes were refreshing. hard workers who enjoy their job and we’re actually fun to deal with! Andy and Simon deserve a raise and my thanks.

Amazing individuals. They were respectful, caring and efficient. To help keep the cost low, they allowed us to help which saved time and gave us the peace of mind that our items were being properly cared for.
They were patient and friendly.
I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat!

My parents used this company for a move in Fort Saskatchewan and had a great experience, same with my step brother. I was more than happy to schedule them for my own move but they cancelled on me the day before my moving date. I have two small kids so rescheduling wasn't really feasible. They did arrange an alternate company but that ended up costing me $1600 to move a 2 bedroom apartment's worth of stuff 2.8 km. Bottom line, don't book with these guys if you need to move on a specific date.

We absolutely loved Fort Moving. We had them move my grandma and great-aunt a few years ago and they had a huge heavy organ and a monstrous wall shelving unit and they were champs. We were so happy with them in that move that we had them move us Christmas Eve eve and again, they were amazing. Professional. Gentle on all our belongings. Fast. Efficient. Polite. Jovial. Great communicators.

Our piano was insanely heavy - glad we hired 4 guys (was well worth it and N.E.C.E.S.S.A.R.Y.). The piano slipped off the skid - no fault of the men - and dented the wall a bit. They compensated us fairly without any hassle. Would DEFINITELY recommend them. They put up with a lot that day and never once complained. Not to mention that they had great camaraderie amongst the team which made them a hoot to be around. Our team was: Andy, Pat, Simon and Jim.

(So to tell you how amazing they were, one of the guys actually broke his foot when they were lifting the piano into its place, off the skid, and it came down on his foot by accident. I right away wanted to rush him to hospital, but he insisted he was fine and finished another 2.5 hours of the job. Blew my mind. Tough crew.) Hope you are healing ok!
