They were punctual, and took care of our home while moving the furniture. The furniture was carefully wrapped and nothing was scratched or damaged. The crew was respectful, hard working and made our move from the lower mainland to Vancouver Island flawless. We would highly recommend to friends and family and anyone that wants a trouble free move.

Workers came on time and did the whole process swiftly.

However, there were a few inconsistencies I noticed throughout the service:

• Their website indicated that they have "new/clean reliable trucks". They arrived using a Penske rental truck that had no label of the company name on the exterior. The truck's interior shows that it has been used a lot.

• Hooman had been clear on the phone that they would assemble and disassemble my furniture at the time of booking. However, on the day of the move, my large office desk was not disassembled, and only my bedframe was. This perhaps could've been in the interest of time, but I would temper expectations thinking they would assist in disassembly and assembly of all furniture involved in the move.

• The website mentioned they have "professional, experienced, and uniformed handy Movers". The workers that came in were not in uniform, told off the security of the apartment building as a third-party resident had used the elevator that was solely dedicated for the move, and didn't take too kindly to being asked to remove their shoes while moving boxes and furnitures out the carpeted unit. They had also overpacked a handcart, dropped, and cracked one of the plastic crates I was using for storage. Thankfully, nothing fragile was destroyed. However, I would keep an eye on how things are being moved to avoid such a mishap.

• Hooman mentions they would "supply all necessary items for moving your large belongings safely", this was also quoted on their website. However, the workers arrived with the standard dolly and handcart. They only had mattress blankets available for Queen/King, none for other sizes. I'd expected at least tape or zipties, at least, as they were asking to use my own tape at one point.

All in all, the move went by swiftly. However, not meeting the expectations set from the booking email and the website had me disappointed.

I recommend folks considering this company look elsewhere to avoid having to deal with the nonsense that ensues when their movers cause damage and they don’t want to admit it. This moving company had a truck damage my parked vehicle and both the driver and owner of the company, Hooman, denied it.

Unfortunately, the combined brains of the 3 person moving team and my new upstairs neighbours who hired them wasn’t enough for the bunch to recognize that backing a large 7 ton truck in a two car driveway wasn’t a good idea while my parked vehicle was there.

Update:

ICBC determined the driver/vehicle of Express Handy Movers to be at fault for the damages they denied.

Note to owner:

I made attempts to cooperate with you so we could both learn more about what happened, however it was you that declined to share any information with me and chose to submit directly to icbc denying fault. As your denial places the burden of proof on me, I found information elsewhere and without your cooperation. I believe if you had cooperated we would have been able to figure out together how your truck damaged my vehicle and you could have been a “good” company that knows how to take accountability for their accidents. Instead, you chose to not cooperate with me and to not complete an effective review with your team, forcing me to do the work for you in pestering neighbours for evidence and preparing statements to ICBC, all so that I could account for your company’s error. A reputable company would not require others to account for their company’s errors. I feel sorry for the people who experience damages by your team and don’t have an investigation being funded by a third party to prove it.
