UPDATE: I still really enjoy this restaurant, however it appears the food can be hit or miss. Last time I went it felt like the chicken wings bearly had any meat on them.

I always order the deep fried chicken wings with fries and gravy and it has always been great quality. We ordered the spring rolls and a wonton soup to share between 3 and it was a nice appetizer size. Portion size is good for the price and food flavorful. They have chilly sauce which has a nice spice with a sweet garlic flavor, for the chicken wings - it's pretty spicy so I suggest trying a small amount first. Tables are very comfortable and customer service is very friendly and attentive.

It’s really nice to come to a strange town and receive top notch service and good food in a comforting and relaxed environment with a great atmosphere, Great West provided all of this within moments of me sitting down.
I always approach new restaurants with a bit of trepidation as you never really know what to expect, this place looked like it predominantly catered to western tastes which it does but I was delighted to find traditional dishes and tofu on the menu my favourite hot pot “8 jewels hot pot” was called “special tofu hot pot” but was still the delightful mix of tofu, vegetables, seafood and pork, absolutely delicious and for kicks I tried the almond chicken which was superb, they also have Mapo Tofu and a host of other dishes. The place was busy with family after family of people packing the place, the servers were excellent fast polite and very kind, and it was wild to watch them hustle and yet be so efficient, great service! The owner was also very nice and has a great sense of humour, the place was very clean and bright so it was very comfortable to enjoy a meal here and I can truly understand why it’s so popular!

The worse Chinese food I have ever experienced. Bar none. We ordered the combo for 4 people. It was terrible. No sauces sent. Dry food. Double rice? Terrible. Dry. No meat. Give me a break. 100 dollars gone. We ordered subway. Stay far away.

Hands down the best Dimsum i’ve ever had, and we’ve tried many places on vancouver island. They also offer delivery and you don’t have to go through Spyce & pay an extra 15$ everytime so super convenient!

Very good food
Hospitable on the phone and service is excellent. Not sure what Jennifer does, but she delivers very good food and she is a pleasure to see. Check out their burgers. Quite above average.

Okay, pretty sure the 5-star reviews are fake/paid.

I paid $41 after tax for 2 #1 combos. I got the mushroom chow mein instead of chicken for one, and S&S chicken balls for both.

Chicken balls are okay. They sort of taste fishy, probably from the oil.

Sauce is fine, maybe a little thick.

The rice is alright, but it and the chow mein are SO plain. I've never had chow mein as bland as this.

The chicken is shredded and sprinkled on top, and doesn't exactly taste great.

The portions are very large, but for $20/each they better be. They had 5 chicken balls, which is pretty much average.

We ordered take-out, which took 30 minutes and the lady I placed the order with seemed impatient/rushed/irritated.

Overall, pretty unimpressed. We definitely enjoyed Stardust more, but they're very similar. I would sooner order Stardust, but it's almost like they have the same owners.

Love going here for lunch, my husband asked me where I wanted to go for a lunch date and I chose West End🤗 I ordered clam chower soup and a deluxe burger 🤗😋 Waited a bit but was well worth it, was super delicious and fresh😋👍🏻(I like eating soup when it's this cold outside🥶) And the waitress was friendly, overall that lunch kept us full all day which was surprising and good, didn't have to go shopping all hungry🤗👍🏻Top it all off, West End will always get my 2 thumbs up for their delicious food and friendly waitresses 🤗👍🏻👍🏻I look forward to coming back here soon🤗👍🏻💞
