I had my pup spayed by Dr. Steele. Through no fault of hers my poor pup had a bad reaction to just about everything. She went above and beyond to help us out. Dr Steele was very helpful and caring and thorough. My little girl is fine now and back to normal. Thank you so much Dr. Rebecca Steele.

They did a spay for us and had our "Roxy" back home in a few hours. All done internally with only one stitch to take out later. Too bad they don't accept new clients as they have all they can handle now. Very caring and helpful.

They are not taking new clients so it’s doubtful you can become a patient anyway. As summer visitors to Shelburne they reluctantly helped us when our dog with mast cell tumor needed to be put down. The service was preformed in a kind manner, yet it was scheduled several days after our desperate need. Who does that? Next Tuesday at 2 we can euthanize your dog?

It was suggested I call later on to determine if they are taking new clients. Every time I call it’s a no-go. Of course we want a Vet close to our home in case of emergency. We don’t mind a yearly “well-check” visit, too. Unfortunately, this is not that kind of Veterinary clinic.

The previous Veterinary Shelburne clinic was wonderful! Losing that kind of inclusive, caring, skilled clinic has been a terrible blow to a fabulous small town. The former clinic was not open every day but if you needed their help they welcomed you, they advised you, they did their best. Wish this new place would change their ways … or that another clinic would establish in Shelburne, NS.

Would give zero stars if that was an option. Unfortunately we had to bring our pet here to be put down. The experience was far from comforting as they didn’t administer the proper amount of anesthesia. Process was not smooth and made our dog suffer. Furthermore they don’t maintain proper records. Would strongly advise people to take their pets elsewhere. Got the impression they are more about money then they are caring for pets.

I'd heard a number of bad things about this place but wanted to reserve judgement. I dropped in this morning to ask about creating homemade cat food and nutritional supplements to add to it and they said they couldn't help me. That's fine and before they reply to this saying I was angry that they couldn't, I was not, though it wouldn't have killed them to ask a few questions and offer suggestions. They didn't even ask if I've tried the vet foods they have there. What upset me was as soon as I walked in, I got a horrible look from one person and the other ignored me until I asked why they can't be friendly. That's when I got they "we are overworked", "we work seven days a week", etc. When I said I thought it was no wonder people went to Barrington with their pets, I was told to do exactly that. We all have bad days. I work seven days a week, too, but I smile and greet and do the best I can to help people no matter how overwhelmed I am. I can only hope that they treat the animals better than they treat humans.

My wife phoned asking about the possibility of ordering in a special diet dog food. She was put off immediately by the angry sounding woman who answered. First by the tone of her voice when she picked up the phone and secondly by her blunt, curt tone and the answer to her question. She was very quickly dismissed with no offer of further help. Next she phoned the Barrington vet where she not only received a very warm, friendly, happy response, she was also told they could order in the food for her. We will only be dealing with the Barrington vet from now on. Based on the other reviews I have read, it sounds like this vet office definitely needs to change their front desk staff customer service manners and disposition. They need to keep in mind that whoever answers the phone or greets people at the door are the first impression that a potential client makes of the place.

The customer service and bed side manner is not always great here. I wish they could show a little more compassion for pet owners with sick animals. I will never even call this vet again, I requested all my documents and have since moved vets and much more comfortable now. I could go on, but I won’t.

Beyond grateful for the doctor and staff's emergency help. My dog was in rough shape after a porcupine attack Labour Day (late night) and they immediately assisted him with care and kindness.

As it was a holiday, and because I am new to and unfamiliar with the area, I appreciated their help for our beloved dog.

Highly recommended.
