In with the New and Out with the Old!!
I’m not one to send or rely on reviews however I feel it is deserving to give recognition to people who care.
Great Customer service 👍 by Trevor and staff at Legacy Dodge Claresholm.
It’s been a while since my last encounter. I honestly have noticed a change in personnel on this most recent visit.
I was tossing ideas around but no hard plans to purchase a vehicle as my existing vehicle is still a good solid unit.
The casual conversation I had with Trevor opened up an opportunity for me. There were No pressure tactics just honest and candid communication.
I would say it is a refreshing atmosphere. Welcoming and friendly people.
Trevor and David were awesome to deal with and were very knowledgeable about the product. Jeff finished up the deal from the finance office.
The takeaway from my point of view is “Honesty & Care goes a long way”.

On January 1st, 2024, I suffered an ischemic stroke, resulting in brain damage and severe physical limitations. Nineteen days later, while still in recovery and unable to even drive, Legacy Dodge Claresholm pushed me into signing a vehicle contract sight unseen.
I had no in-person meetings with a sales agent, finance manager, or supervisor. No one explained the contract. No one walked me through the terms. No one witnessed the signing of the final documents. The vehicle was never brought for a test drive — even when I specifically asked.
They also lowballed my trade-in by more than $15,000 from what was owing, and rushed the deal without regard for my medical condition or capacity to consent. When I reached out asking for help after realizing what had happened, I was told “there’s nothing we can do.”
The new manager has now tried to spin this around on me, claiming my truthful accusations are threatening. Let me be absolutely clear:
I am not threatening anyone. I am exposing unethical and predatory business practices.
As if that wasn’t enough, after the deal was completed, Legacy Dodge promised to host a fundraiser for my nonprofit, Alberta Food Rescue and Distribution — an organization that has fed tens of thousands across Alberta. When I followed up on the promise, they started dodging and backtracking. That fundraiser never happened. They never followed through.
I am now paying for a vehicle I cannot drive, locked into a contract that was built on lies, silence, and manipulation. I’ve dedicated my life to protecting vulnerable people. This time, I was the vulnerable one — and Legacy Dodge exploited that.
This is what predatory selling looks like in Alberta. And I will not stay silent.

We have brought our cars here a few times and spent thousands of dollars in service and repairs. We realized later that they charged more than other mechanics but we needed wheel alignments and things other shops couldn't do and were stupid in trusting them with their inspections. We got inspections for 4 different cars here that we had at different times, a couple were done before selling the cars. Every time, the cars passed on the inspections but then listed pages of the smallest things they said needed repairs that added up and they quoted thousands of dollars in repairs. When we went to another mechanic in town for a second opinion for a couple of the cars, we were told half of the stuff they quoted was not necessary to do and we only needed to do some of the things and they also quoted us half the price on some things.

With our last car the only reason we went back here to the dealer was we needed a wheel alignment and tire balancing, which they couldn't do at the other mechanic. We got an inspection and even though they checked everything as good on our full vehicle inspection, they still quoted us like $3000 in repairs for this car. Before the inspection we asked them about a whining noise on the car we did research on thinking it might be the transmission and asked them specifically to check that out. They told us after that it for sure wasn't the transmission but a few other things that needed fixing that would fix the noise. We asked what was absolutely necessary to fix because we needed to be able to use the car right away for trips to Calgary so didn't have time to get a second opinion. They told us the things they recommended and we spent over $1200 on the repairs and thought everything major was fixed on the car. But as soon as we took it on the highway after we got it back we realized the wheel alignment and tire balancing were not done right and the steering wheel was badly shaking. We called them about adjusting it and they said to bring it back so we did. After the second time it was better but still not perfect so I checked the tire pressures to be sure and 3 of them were correct but one tire was twice the pressure it was supposed to be, around 60 psi instead of 30 psi. I was kind of in disbelief that they either didn't check the tire pressure and adjust it properly before tire balancing or they overfilled it. I don't know if it was deliberate but it made me question what work they actually did on the car and if they actually made anything better or worse.

We noticed as soon as we got it back again that the whining noise was still there. They insisted it was the engine mounts at first which they supposedly fixed and it did nothing for the noise. We also noticed a couple days later the car was having some issues shifting and we called them again asking again about the transmission. They agreed to take it for another test drive but still insisted it was not the transmission but something else like the power steering pump. My husband told them the transmission was slipping and he looked up the exact description of this noise and found articles about it being the transmission and they still wouldn't listen or do anything.

So they basically made us waste a bunch of money fixing other things that did not fix the problem, only to find out we might have a major issue after paying for all this work. We checked the transmission fluid after this and found it was all grey and burnt looking and it was low and we couldn't believe that the mechanic didn't even check the transmission fluid or tell us there was an issue with it. We had to go to a transmission mechanic who said he thought it was a transmission issue and to immediately add some fluid and then try draining and filling the fluid to see if it helped before doing something else. The fact that the dealer didn't even check the transmission or the transmission fluid or tell us what we had to find out from another mechanic is outrageous when that was the first thing we asked them to check! I put in a dispute for our charges after.
