Lost my license from a different province and a lady at this office stated that I should call said province to get a temporary ID without a photo to revoke with instead. Province says they don’t offer a temporary license, but they could send a drivers abstract or drivers license history report, all this information was relayed to me weeks ago. I called that 1-800 number before ordering the DLHR and they confirmed, yes, I’d be able to get an NS issued ID with either the abstract or the DLHR. Fast forward to now, I receive the DLHR in the mail, I get back to this registry, shocker - they’re saying that I cannot get a NS ID or License with either documents. I called the same 1-800 number again today and a different person answered, stating I cannot get an NS ID without the license from the province prior, birth certificate or passport - so right now, I am expected to go back to the province I was previously living in to get a new ID reinstated. Was I lied to or are these employees all trained differently? My previous province even confirmed that I wouldn’t need a whole new ID just to revoke it in NS; the abstract or DLHR should be fine? I have now wasted money and extensive time listening to these people, questioning how exactly was I told that I could do something, that in reality, I actually couldn’t? Extremely backwards and beyond unprofessional, I do not see myself using their services any time soon.

I had the privilege of being taught by the most understanding teachers of young drivers of Canada .And I told him that I couldn't of been taught by any other teacher at the time I was very nervous but having learned through drivers Ed classes that both signs may change and the books may change and the road conditions may change ,and even road signs .And always remember to do your circle surround.

Not busy, short wait times, friendly service AT THE CLERK desks. Front desk isn't welcoming or friendly. Thank you to Kirsten for sorting me out!

Took me almost an entire year to book an appointment to take my road test, Every time you call they say "It's fully booked keep calling back", No wait list, No call backs. Some people don't have time to call in multiple times a day for months on end.

During the pandemic it is appointment preferred, but still arrive 20+ minutes early and let them know you are there. There is a guard at the door checking preregistered names. They do have walk-ins, as scheduling allows, but those with appointments have priority. As a walk-in you could be in line for 1-2 hours depending. Once you get to a counter, service is friendly efficient and very helpful.
If you are nearby in the area in advance of wanting to schedule an appointment, it i. Easiest to drop off a call request form. The have preprinted forms there. You fill in the day, time of day you would like, and a call back number. Nova Scotia Access will then call you to confirm scheduling an available day and time. To call Access Nova Scotia to make an appointment can take a long time to get through. It took me 45 minutes of non stop repeated dialing. Sometimes you get transferred only to get a busy signal. As long as it rings or you are on hold with music or messages, you are almost there, don’t hang up. If you get a busy signal at any point, don’t be surprised, hang up and start again.

I understand they are "busy" with phone calls as I have gotten to the menu twice only to get transferred to a busy signal in a 1/2 hour time frame. I think to book an appointment should have been something that could be done online. I guess it will be another stand in line for a hour to get into the building.
