Tried to return faulty faucet, with receipt. Store would not accept it as it was not in sellable condition. Obviously they don't stand behind their products if there is a problem with them, so I'll purchase items like that from Home Depot in the future. They stand behind the products they sell, regardless if it is in 'sellable' condition.

Update...it's spring 2025 and no change with this store. Glad to have Home Depot in town. Old review - liked the store, very clean and well organized, they have some very nice decorative items as well as a decent stock of hardware, however after our second visit (thought maybe we hit them on a bad day the first time) to this establishment, we can say for sure, the staff need customer service training. Very cold and uninviting - made you feel as though you were bothering them. Sad...

A few weeks ago we had a great experience at home hardware in Brockville dealing with the men in the bathroom vanity area. These guys were fantastic and helpful. Unfortunately, this positive experience was overshadowed recently by other staff making a mistake that has cost me $ and time.

On a Monday after work, I went into the store to talk to them about a product that I was going to order online through the home hardware website. The people there told me it would be better/faster to order it directly through the store and it would be available for pick up within a 3-5 day time frame. I thought this was great. Not only was I giving a local business business, but dealing with a person instead of a computer was fine by me. To trust that someone would do their job was a mistake I made.

My product was supposed to arrive between a Friday and Tuesday. On the Monday, I called to see if it had come in yet. Someone checked my invoice # and told me that no, it wasn't there, but likely on tomorrow's truck. Not ideal, but I knew the time frame when I ordered it, so that was on me.
On the Tuesday, I heard nothing. My husband called and was told they were processing the truck and someone would call me that afternoon. No call.
I called after work and was told that it was not there. This was frustrating to me, because we were waiting on this product for a renovation that was in the works, and the waiting was holding up our contractor, plumber, & electrician, and costing $. That being said, I understand that trucks and products can be delayed, so I took it as bad luck for me.

However, after hanging up from finding out it wasn't on Tuesday's truck, the home hardware employee called me back again 5 minutes later to tell me that my order had not actually been placed and that he put the order in just then, and I could expect the order hopefully by the end of the week. He wasn't sure why my order wasn't placed on the day I was there.
My order, that I needed by the Tuesday, that was supposed to have been order the Monday before (like a week and a day before) was just being ordered on the day it was supposed to arrive. So frustrating, especially since I had called the day before and given my invoice # for the person to check. Could someone not tell it had not in fact been ordered?

That being said, I cancelled my order at Home Hardware- went to Home Depot and got great service, and the product I was looking for came the very next day, just like they said it would.

Some complain about people shopping at big box stores in comparison to the smaller, local stores, however this is a great example of why they do that.
In Brockville, my business moving forward will be focused on Home Depot and not Home Hardware.
