The $13 ginger beef and fried rice combo was absolutely delicious and reasonably portioned. I also got a side of dumplings for $8 and they were plump and tasty, a little softer than I expected but very delicious. Ordered online(love that a small town restaurant is embracing online orders) and picked up 30 minutes later and was out the door with my food in less than 20 seconds. Definitely will be back!

Excellent food. You can tell it is made from high quality ingredients and it isn’t all dripping in overly sugary sauce. So good. The ginger beef and chicken balls are my kids’ favorites. Yummy Bubbly Tea too! I love that you can order online and it tells you when it’s ready for pickup.

I got the rare beef Pho, and it was fantastic. Great portion size, great price. My friend and I said a blessing on the food before we ate and the waiter was very respectful of it. Super sweet guy. Would definitely come again

I didn't even know this place was here, but I'm glad I found it. I got the satay beef toasted sub, and the peach soda. Both are excellent. I kind of wish the sandwich had a bit more filling, but it's longer than I thought it would be, and the flavours pop. It was very satisfying. The soda is fairly lightly sweetened, and was quite refreshing.
Next time I want a sandwich in Carstairs, I'll take Country Kitchen over Subway any day.
P.S. There is also a restaurant called "Hunter's Country Kitchen", they're not the same restaurant. It's a little confusing if you're trying to look them up on google.

Edit on August 15, 2025: Pictures are a Lemon Lychee Green Tea, and a Satay Beef Bahn Mi. Omg they're so good. Going to the Vietnamese Country Kitchen for my lunch break brightens my entire day.

I kept hearing about this friendly little place with filling, made-to-order food. The owners, Don and Kim, remember each customer and even more amazing, their previous orders! I had been just once, then called a week later to pre-order over the phone. Don knew what I had had, without any prompting, right down to the need to be gluten-free.
This small-town eatery serves breakfast all-day, burgers and Asian dishes.
I've just had the vermicelli bowl and salad rolls both times. My partner has had the loaded vermicelli bowl for years, it is so good that he hasn't even tried anything else.
The prices are great for the amount of food and its freshness.
You aren't going to return for the decor, but you will for the eats and the glimpse into authentic small-town life. 🙂

The food tasted amazing! But the portioning was too small for the price point. I can get almost twice the amount of food for the same price point at gonhoo cafe in crossfield. But I will say the food tastes better than gonhoo.
