I have been a volunteer driver for Drive Happiness for the past 8 years since I retired from my chiropractic profession. This is a wonderful organization staffed by dedicated volunteers who give their heart & soul to keeping this amazing service running on a daily basis. There is no other outlet in Edmonton & the surrounding areas where seniors can get rides in such a cost effective fashion. I have provided rides to hundreds & hundreds of seniors for everything from medical/dental appointments, grocery shopping, hair appointments, church attendance & Christmas shopping. This is a win/win for me & my riders & I look forward to each day connecting with seniors who may have no other contact with anyone for days besides their Drive Happiness driver. In conclusion, I highly recommend this organization to anyone looking for drive assistance or anyone looking to volunteer as a driver.

I have been a driver for Drive Happiness for over six years. I have enjoyed working with the people I give rides to and the staff that makes it all work. I have always found the staff friendly and helpful. Problems have been dealt with promptly to our mutual satisfaction.
I enjoy the people I drive. It is a different rapport than one would get as a taxi driver because one is a volunteer not a hired person. Several of my passengers I have given many rides and they tell me when their next trip is coming. They always say thank you. I consider them friends.

My husband was one of the longest users of Drive Happiness! Being we lived out of the city and he was a dialysis patient he needed transport to the dialysis unit sometimes three times a week. I was trying to maintain this pace my self driving him to dialysis as an only caregiver. I called and found out that I could get assistance from DH with volunteer drivers. They helped us for many years.

He was so incredibly lucky to have the best volunteers and he never not once ever missed a dialysis appointment because of all these dedicated volunteers! They came in all kinds of weather and helped me get him to and from dialysis. I will be forever grateful to them all for their help and kindness. I always had wonderful communication with all the staff for his schedule as well. Everyone was polite and so understanding. Many times I cried on their shoulders about how difficult this journey was.

I always say Drive Happiness has the BEST volunteers! Thank you to them all!! We couldn’t have done it with out you!

Drive Happiness is an amazing organization. I have been driving for the service for 1.5 years and have met so many wonderful people in Lethbridge and the surrounding area that require rides to appointments, to get groceries, to go to the bank, etc. I feel very fulfilled helping these seniors get to their appointments. The seniors are always very grateful and appreciative of the rides they receive.

I volunteered with DH for 2.5 years; mostly during covid. Meeting so many lovely seniors was an amazing, heart-warming experience. These riders are smart, savvy and funny & I loved developing great relationships with them. However, the need for rides is huge. Too much at times to be filled by the volunteer drivers, despite some driving full time. But that’s what is great about volunteering for this non-profit organization; the drivers make themselves available for rides depending on their availability. DH is the first choice for the riders due to its very affordable cost. If no volunteers are available to fill every ride, unfortunately, some seniors may have to find other transportation, in the for-profit sector, which is infinitely more expensive. The very busy office staff is so supportive of all of us; whether a rider or a driver. This is a really stellar organization. Bravo Drive Happiness!

I have been a volunteer with Drive Happiness since May, 2020. Signing up was quick and simple. I have met so many interesting people since I began driving and have enjoyed many conversations happy and sad. Volunteering is helpful for both our riders and me as a driver.

I've been volunteering for DH for just about a decade now (started early 2015) and have found it to be a rewarding experience for myself and, from what I hear from my riders, the seniors too. I have a family member who uses the service who attests to this as well. Not only is it flexible for passengers' destination needs, but it can also provide social connections for folks whose ability to step out of their residence is limited due to any number of reasons.

Do some rides get missed? Of course they do. But I find this is to be because of low volunteer manpower compared to the amount of rides requested.

As a volunteer, available rides are displayed on a private website, and you pick and choose what you can help out with. It's very simple. So, sign up today if you'd like to assist with this helpful program.

Drive Happiness provides safe, reliable and affordable transportation for seniors in our community. It is such an important resource for seniors to have access to transportation when needed. It helps many seniors live independently. The staff are friendly and supportive to each individual and do their very best to make the service convenient and easy for the senior and volunteers. The volunteers are dedicated to each person they serve and I know they do their best. I highly recommend this service for senior transportation.
