The crossing back to the main island is poorly managed. They do not account for the increased tourist traffic, and operate without a reservation system. This, combined with using small boats, means there is no guaranteed return, leading to extremely long waits.

To avoid long car lines and monitor traffic, a reservation system should be implemented. I would gladly pay $75 for a reserved spot rather than $25 for an uncertain return. Alternatively, staff could give out numbers so people can leave and return later without losing their place in line.

I also don't appreciate staff members saying it's not their problem and blaming the government. They work there and should find solutions to make the tourists' experience more enjoyable.

While the island is great, be aware that you could face a six-hour wait to get back to the mainland.

Very friendly staff and big vessel with lot of seating. Has a bathroom in the terminal and on the vessel both are very well maintained and clean. And it's wheel chair accessible

Got stuck in the Fogo islands without a ferry to come back. Always look for the ferry schedule before going. Staff were helpful though.

Return ferry travel was free, similar to PEI. We got to the terminal about an hour earlier. To my surprise there were already 35 or so vehicles before us. Kept wondering if we will get on. Could not ask anyone, if and how good our chances were to get on it? It could accommodate a lot of vehicles, I think everyone got on, as it was full end to end, including the side upper decks too?

The Ferry from Farewell to Fogo was very efficient and on schedule. Unfortunately, it was extremely hot inside the ship, but fortunately it was warm and sunny on the top Outdoor deck with a nice cool breeze!

Super nice staff..about 45 minute ferry to Fogo Island..stops at Chance Island to pickup passengers and for departures from ferry to that island

You need to arrive a good 45 minutes before departure. It's free getting back to main island.

Not a bad ferry ride it was only about an hour in total for the trip with a quick stop at Change Island my only issue is that there is no smoking anywhere on the vessel but as luck would have it I managed to make the trip without smoking…lol
