This place was perfect for my needs. Owner was attentive and sincere, room was clean and comfortable, shower was super, cost was affordable, internet was excellent, I watched the televised hockey game I wished to see, common areas were cute and well cared for… all in an isolated Newfoundland outport no less (where such services are often difficult to obtain). Thanks so much.

New owners, not the same as it was. The absolute worst customer service. The place is dirty, cold and the people running it are scary. The place is not being maintained anymore and becoming run down. So sad to see as this place used to be wonderful. Highly recommend not risking a stay here even if it is the only option as there is a chance you will get kicked out, she will not show up with your keys or you have to leave because the standards are soo low. I didn't heed the warnings and ended up getting threatened, kicked out at 9pm and blamed for her frozen pipes that burst. Luckily I have family in town as back up. Also if you are expecting the restaurant to be open...it may be and may not be.

The worst stay ever. This motel has been in the community for many years and has always been a good stay. If you stayed there before THIS IS NOT THE SAME PLACE. Since 2020 the place as gone down hill and the current owner who took over from her father in 2022 is atrocious. The motel is now run down, dirty, unkept and cold. The ower is no where to be seen, and when contacted rude, curt and paranoid. I got kicked out of the hotel at night randomly while the owner accused me of outrageous things all while she smoked in the halls and threatened me. The restraunt is never open and I found out it in November it was closed due to unsanitary conditions. I live on the island and frequent the community often. I know several other guests who have been through similar situations now. If you want to risk being kicked out and having nowhere to go then book. Otherwise plan other accommodations.

Beautiful view of the ocean, the service is amazing. The owner served us even when she wasn't open. I can say she was the nicest woman ever..
We have been there 3 times in one week, and are planning on going back before we go back to Calgary.
The food is absolutely delicious I would suggest the classic breakfast and my husband would say the omelette is delicious. I also had a hamburger with pork on it. Omg I suggest that because it melts in your mouth.

Spent my whole day driving to get to Burgeo, around 5 in the afternoon I arrived to the hotel and no one was there to greet people, even though the open sign was on. I called 2 days ahead of time and was told I was booked. I waited in the lobby for roughly an hour and no one showed up (also they left a number to call if they stepped out but after calling it multiple times and getting no response I gave up). After waiting around multiple other people showed up to get booked in and had the same issue, no one was there to give them a key or let them in to the rooms they booked. After speaking with a few people in town while trying to scramble to and find a new place to stay at 6PM in the evening I was informed that this is a very common issue. Gilletts will no longer be getting my business while working in the area as they are very un-reliable.

I’m from Newfoundland but live in Ontario. I was home on vacation and was asked to go to Burgeo for a two night visit to see the beaches. We stay at Gillette Motel and without a doubt it was awful. The room was dirty and smelled horrible the electrics were very scary you could plug the curling iron in and turn on the microwave at the same time it would blow a circuit. The freezer was so full of ice you could fit anything in it. The owner of the establishment was so unprofessional, when she was asked if our room was go to be cleaned she freaked out so unprofessional. In my opinion she’s under staff because nobody wants to work with her or so we were told by the local. If you go to Burgeo do not stay at Gillette Motel it won’t be a pleasant stay.

Room is old, smelly bedding, old carpet, squeezing bed,....too many to list.
Restaurant is not clean, pork & knives very dirty(did not wash properly), table is dirty from night before.
Water color is brown. I rarely took shower.
