Great US rate . Lots of miles if want to stay out on road. McConnell has a ton of brand new trucks. Dispatch are great . If want to get home they get you home. All in all good place to work . They also branching out to flat deck division. That will be my next step. Anyways , nothing is perfect but at least they try the best

No doubt equipments are new and well maintained but drivers are not getting enough miles which they really deserve. Mostly need to wait on road for next load. Whenever go to mechanic window staff members speak rudely to drivers excepts few staff members. At last, Drivers deserve good miles and respect from company.

All trucks have automatic transmissions.(Likeable for those long drives!)

Maintenance is regularly done at the shop.

Shop and driver facilities are new/modern.

The, traffic managers do their best to keep you working while out & away.

Being, qualified to drive into, the USA. I, drive close to 55% of my miles in the US & the other 45% of miles in Canada.
I've, been employed with this company for more than 10 years.

*Recent 2022 pay increase on all US miles.

I was notified by a member of the team on 23/09/2022 that I was invited to orientation. That very same member who lives in Nova Scotia had informed me that he was going to the store to get supplies for the impending hurricane. Fast forward to 19/09/2022 I had received an email from the onboarding specialist I believe is her title. I would have to look at the emails between her and I to verify. Anyway, she called me on 19/09 to ask if I was going to make orientation on 20/09. Which was not even the date I was originally given via email from the original person. So, she changed it on her end to 21/09/2022 as it was agreed upon, I would be there. I got on my plane in Newark, NJ on 20/09 as intended. However, after a combination of weather and equipment malfunctioning. The plane needed to turn around and return to Newark. I had emailed the onboarding woman as soon as I boarded my new flight to Toronto. upon arrival in Toronto, I had received an email in response to my request to move my road test from 21/09 to 22/09 for safety reasons. In her response she had asked two things. First was if I would still be attending orientation. Second was Why had I made such a request. Such a conversation I felt it necessary to have a voice conversation. Where I simply stated the facts. That after landing in Moncton I would have yet another 2.5-hour drive ahead of me to my Airbnb. That I would not arrive at my Airbnb until 0130-0200. That and having to start orientation at 0830 I would only get 5 hours of sleep roughly. That a road test at 1600 or 1630 would not be a safe one and I would surely not be at my best. She said OK and that she would run it by the planner for the girl doing my road test. Roughly 30 minutes later I received an email saying that my presence at orientation was no longer required and my resume would be kept on file if anything changes. I had simply responded by asking if I may know what's changed. As optics would have it the only thing that changed is I made a very reasonable request for safety purposes.

However, I would like to just point out that my experience is not everyone's. But this is not a good way to conduct business. If you have someone spent nearly $1,000 to accommodate your request for them to attend orientation you should be more understanding. Especially when a hurricane had landed in Nova Scotia and PEI a day or two prior to my departure. But please do not keep my resume. This experience has put a sour taste in my mouth for McConnell Transport. So for anyone considering coming here DO YOUR RESEARCH before accepting anything.

This has to be the worst company for communication. The dispatch never picks up the phone no one answers the quellcom. We got an extremely dirty smelly truck took us over 8 hours to clean it and then they had the nerve to ask why we as a team are not going out till the following day. We had a truck that had been in a serious accident and didn't sit properly or run properly.
I DO NOT advise anyone to work here. It's the worst.
