Fine room in a great location and a great view! The service was great - we checked in at the pub and it all went smoothly. Unfortunately we seemed to be missing a sheet, as the comforter was going to be directly against our skin (gross) so we flipped it so at least it was just the sheet on top against our skin. The comforter also had a small blood stain on it...the tv was small and there seemed to be a broken seal at the toilet. But the room had a fairly large table and chairs, and a pretty decent sized mini fridge.

Despite of the last reviews we had a great time here! When we arrived I had some little problems to check in: Keys are in the pub close to the building, but as soon as I realized it, everything turned to OK.||Room was big and clean, recently redecorated, and the bathroom was at least the double of a "regular" one...||Breakfast was not included, anyway there is a little coffe shop in the shopping center close to the building.||Port McNeill is a cosy town and the building is in front of the Harbour so you can wake up staring at the ocean and at the sea life. Really appreciated.||The only negative point is that the bedroom has no windows, so lights comes directly from the entrance window, but it was not a big problem for us.

I was glad I had read the reviews here .... check in is at the nearby Gus's Bar. No notice on the building with the rooms so we didn't have to spend time second guessing. That being said the bartender was friendly and accommodating and check in was effortless. We were surprised by the big "suite-like" rooms. Very comfortable and clean. Nice view over the harbour and facing the sunset. Very enjoyable stay.

Four stars to this accommodation! Plenty of space to hang and dry our full kayaking kit after several days paddling. Lots of clean fresh towels. The best part was the comfy bed and rock solid headboard. My only feedback would be a more supportive curtain rod in the bathroom and a slightly wider bathtub for comfort.

Having read a couple of the reviews here, I've got to say I'm not sure exactly what people were expecting. Port McNeil isn't the biggest place in the world and this is a small motel close to the Harbourfront (the clues in the title).||This isn't a five star hotel, nor does it pretend to be, and for the price people shouldn't be expecting that sort of quality of accommodation either. It's a little bit dated, and could do with a bit of a sprucing up on the inside and outside, but the room that we stayed in was a decent size and it was reasonably clean and tidy(believe me we stayed in more expensive hotels which were worse). We came to do the Sea Wolf adventure tour and this is in an excellent location for doing just that, literally being a couple of minutes away from the meeting point. ||As a couple of other people have said, just be aware that you need to pick up the keys from Gus's Pub but that's just a short walk away. We did have some problems with WIFI passwords and also the WIFI reception was poor, so be aware of this, but the staff at the pub were very friendly (particularly the first lady we spoke to behind the bar). There's food available at the Pub and should you want to get your own food in, there's a decent sized supermarket not too far away. I would have no problem recommending this to people to stay. Decent accommodation at a decent price.

A bit conflicted on this review. The hotel and the rooms were nice enough but finding and checking into this place was way more difficult than it needed to be. We arrived in Port McNeill in the late afternoon and couldn't find this hotel. After a couple drives through town we found it. It is not clearly marked or obvious. Hint it is above the steak house. So we parked and went into the restaurant on the main floor and asked to check in. They said that this wasn't the check-in but we had to go to the restaurant next door and ask there. So we walked over to the restaurant which was more of a bar. I was with the kids and they had to wait outside. I walked in and asked someone behind the bar about checking into the hotel and they confirmed that I had come to the right place. They got me checked in and gave me a key and we made our way back to the hotel itself. ||||All the rooms are on the upper floor so we hauled our stuff up to the room. It was laid out a bit strange with a small sitting room with sink and microwave in the front then the bathroom and the room in the back what seemed like a long dark hallway. There were no window on the room which was a bit strange. We were there on a very hot day and there was no air conditioning so we had a fan running. The room ended up being comfortable enough. ||||The room was clean and the fixtures, etc. all worked and were relatively modern. They had satellite TV and internet although it was quite slow. We had an early start in the morning and left our key in the room. Nothing fancy but a good place for the night. I would stay here again if I was passing through.

We have stayed at the McNeill Inn in the past and expected we'd once again be spending the night in the same building not knowing they also had rooms above the Sportsman Grill. What a surprise to realize there was no room 11 in the white stand alone inn and we were staying at a nearby location. The room was very clean, except for the microwave, and the bed was comfy enough for a good nights sleep. Although there was a powerful fan the room was hot and stuffy and the window could not be opened so had to leave door open to get some air into the room. My husband found the room to be very clastrophobic and we would have moved if another hotel had had a vacancy. The layout was unusual with a tv, couch and kitchenette area at the front...bathroom and closet off a hallway that led to the bedroom at the back of the unit. There was no window in the bedroom which I found good for sleeping but my husband didn't sleep well. We would happily stay at the McNeill Inn again but not in the 2nd location above the restaurant.

Great place to stop for a quick bite while waiting for the ferry... but one major concern I have is their step inside their place... in the last month I've seen to senior people fall they have no proper step and should have a middle railing I stalled like I've seen in many places. It'll be only a matter of time before someone sues them.
At least high light that step with neon tape..something.
That's the reason they get a 3 star only
Cheers
