Appreciation for Front Desk Staff at York Medical and All Walk-In Clinics

I want to take a moment to express my appreciation for the receptionists and front desk staff at York Medical on Yonge Street — and by extension, all walk-in clinics.

These professionals manage a fast-paced, often stressful environment where they are constantly answering questions, coordinating patient flow, and assisting individuals who may be in pain, anxious, or frustrated. Despite these daily challenges, I’ve personally experienced nothing but courteous, professional, and respectful service from the team at York Medical.

Walk-in clinics serve a unique and important purpose — caring for patients who need timely attention but can't access their family doctor or don’t require emergency care. These are often transient visits, which means the staff are frequently interacting with people they’ve never met before, without the context that ongoing patient relationships provide.

It's unfortunate to see how quick some people are to criticize front desk staff. We often forget that these individuals are doing their best to help under demanding conditions. It’s easy to overlook the emotional toll of dealing with hundreds of patients a day, answering the same questions repeatedly, and managing expectations — all while staying calm and composed.

I believe we all have a role to play in creating a more respectful and understanding healthcare experience. Before rushing to judgment, we should consider the stress others may be under and show the same patience and kindness we would hope to receive ourselves.

To the team at York Medical and to all walk-in clinic receptionists: thank you. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and many of us are genuinely grateful for the care and professionalism you bring to your work every day.

I came in for blood work today . The lab techincian told me to place the urine sample and the key in the basket provided where the sign says Dynacare. She didn’t mention to ring the bell. Meanwhile the asian receptionist yelled from the inside to ring the bell. I have no business with this lady. She rudely insisted me to ring the bell for dynacare. If you are in a bad mood coming to work, Don’t take it up in me. Mind your own business and do your own work. Just because you’re working on the other side, that doesn’t give you the right to be rude us .

I love my family doctor at this clinic and the pharmacists are amazing. That being said, the receptionists today Friday, February 21, 2025 from 9am to 11am were appalling. They did not execute basic customer service nor do they have any bed side manner. They did not greet me upon entry but instead dismissed my questions and directed me to read numerous posted signs that i could figure things out for myself, are they unaware of what the role of a receptionist is supposed to accomplish?

I hope to not have this experience again.

The Doctors are great. Customer service is pretty bad. Don't bother calling them unless you want to waste your time because sometimes they answer and hangup immediately. Sometimes the customer service is okay but most times it's dry and rushed.

I just recently transferred to this medical clinic. I look for a family physician, and I got Dr. Phee . So far I'm very happy with all the services at this location. Especially Dr Madgi, whom I have been seeing for the past 3 months. She looks after my health very carefully. She addressed my concern and prescription medicine that helped my health issues. Follow-up her instructions, and my health got improved significantly. Thank you very much, Dr.Madgi.
Also, I would like to thank those ladies at the front desk. They always show me their smile and welcome gesture. I am quite happy with the decision that I tranfer to this medical clinic.

Every time I've been to this clinic, the administrative team has been welcoming and organized. They make what can be a stressful situation much easier with their professionalism and kind demeanor. Great job🙏

The reception were rude. They were unpleasant, looked hostile. I asked an asian older lady for a direction of a clinic, they said, "Don't you see the sign there?" Given that there were not busy at that moment.
