Moon House Restaurant - Claresholm, Alberta

This is a unique restaurant. We were a large party (four children) and were seated at the center tables as the booths really only seat four comfortably. We had five dishes, each cost about $20; for the size of each dish, this was too expensive.
Now the uniqueness: each dish is served in a take out container, whether you're staying or taking it to go. Since we ordered off the menu, and were dining in, we were given paper plates and compostable wooden chopsticks. Is that their not so subtle way of encouraging takeout only, or to save on water by not having to wash dishes?
The most upsetting dish was the deep fried wontons, there was just a marble sized meatball; a more apt name for this dish should have been deep fried wonton wraps. Had they been served with lemon sauce instead, well... we'll never know.
The most surprisingly good dish was the fried rice, it is easy to mess up and get mushy fried rice.
Overall, the food was good, but due to price for the quantity, we won't be back.
Also a FYI to the owners: The Moon House is what some older folks use to call their outhouse (toilet), so you may want to think about rebranding.

Absolutely the most amazing food I've had on my trip through Canada! The lady working was extremely nice and super friendly. Everything was already in togo plates to make everything easier! The food was absolutely so delicious and amazing proportions!

We stopped in on our drive home from Calgary and had thought it was a Thai spot only to discover it’s a Chinese restaurant now but it was good. The server was friendly and helpful when I asked about Gluten free options and they had lots of variety other than what I required. We had a pot of tea, a chofan and beef noodle dish for my husband and I had a Shanghai shrimp and chicken with veggies rice noodle dish made gf and both were basic but very good. They serve you in take out containers even though we were eating in 🤷‍♀️ not sure about that but it made it easy to take my leftovers home with me😉 real cutlery was used which is appreciated. The place was clean and neat, bathrooms were good so Over all a good place to grab some food👍

Had the Salt N Pepper Chicken - best chicken I have had in my life! Friendly service from lovely host - and was half an hour pre closing. Quick service - highly recommend.

The food made me wanna cry😭

We ordered #31 and #6 because they look like authentic Chinese food. And they taste authentic too!!! Seriously the taste outdoes all the Chinese restaurants in Lethbridge… even better than some fancier ones in Calgary personally.

So happy that we won’t have to count on TimHortons 711 & AW commuting between Lethbridge and Calgary!! We’re surely coming back!!!

Very disappointed in this restaurant!! Very slow service. Took approximately an hour to come to the table and was presented in a takeout container instead of a plate. Very tacky and considering the meal was almost $20. It was overpriced for the amount received - mostly noodles, five small sweet-and-sour pork ribs, and a spring roll. The female owner of the business was overly argumentative and defensive when the above mentioned concerns were brought to her attention. I will certainly not be back.

This place is a family run business. Friendly staff and the food's great and fresh! Their ginger beef was phenomenal and the serving was huge for a reasonable price.
