I was born and raised in Picton and have loved this airport my whole life.. My Dad was stationed here when he was in the 1rst Battalion Guards. He met my mom here.
Some years ago I, as well as many others, was hugely involved in the Prince Edward R/C Flying club. We flew models, many models, at the end of 23.
I now have my own plane and I am now a proud member of the Prince Edward Flying Club with my plane stored at the club's hangar....something I have wanted to be since my teens.
Mind you I still fly a ton of models....just not here as they are not permitted anymore! 😀
I just love this place!

One of my first single cross country flights ...an amazing triangle shaped runways ...range from 2.5k feet to 2.8kft ...very good maintained, I remember I flow from cedar my home base single to picton....on a hot day Sunday, the girl in charge is very friendly...please let her know your project ND intentions so she may try to help, an incredibly beautiful view from the sky of st edouard Island and sand bank park Beach.
There is no fuel ....be sure to get some oil if you need otherwise there is Kingston a couple of miles eastbound...
Above all one of the unforgettable flight by myself to picton....that I still recall and am proud of me to made it
Highly recommend 👌

Now called Base31, it is being repurposed into shops, theatre, etc. like a themed destination. The barracks have all had new roofing. Other upgrades as well. It looks like the military history for the most part has disappeared. Sad but that’s the new Canada.

My step dad was stationed here back in the early to,mid forties. He was a gunner. So they called him that. When his father passed away in Bath,he walked from Picton to Bath to get to his funeral, not one car in those days passed him.Missed his funeral by one day.😒

Interesting place. British Commonwealth Air Training Plan airfield during WW2 (31 Bombing and Gunnery School), home of the Royal Canadian Artillery Anti-Aircraft School and several operational anti-aircraft batteries up until 1961, then home of the 1st Battalion The Canadian Guards until 1970, when the Regiment was disbanded by the Liberal Government of the day. Visiting here is like travelling back in time.

Rundown but would be cool for weddings or photography sessions. Very cool backdrop.
