Rafting NL - Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador

NOT for the faint of heart. The walk down to the raft was a bit scary. Slippery and steep “natural” steps combined with distraction trying to swat bugs away. Wear proper footwear and long sleeve, also put on bug spray. We went Jul 1st so it wasn’t so bad.

Cliff jump bit scary as no flat platform. But water was really refreshing this time a year, think it was around 12°C. If you’re not canadian, it’s probably too cold for you. We had 2 Brits on the raft with us and poor kid was shivering.

The rafting portion was fun except for these 2 things… 1) we didn’t know there wasn’t so many rapids here. We’d gone rafting before and we’d never had to paddle back against the current to redo the rapids. We’d paddle back 3-4 times for the same rapids… This would happen each time on all maybe 3 rapids total.

2) we asked to get flipped but boy that probably didn’t go as planned… I got trapped underneath the flipped raft so had to breathe inside the raft air pocket, and find the perimeter rope to get myself out. My partner was sucked into a boil and having trouble resurfacing as well. Our guide, Hassan, bless his soul, had to throw a rope line to us bc we’d already floated away from the flipped raft. This 2nd point definitely wasn’t the one affecting the rating.

Going through the rapids was fun. Just be prepared for these..

So much fun!!! Did the Canyon Extreme run with my partner today and had a blast. The trip description said you were guaranteed to fall out and we were not disappointed. I appreciated that we got to try some of the rapids more than once: it was a change from what we're used to on rafting tours and it gave us a chance to really get comfortable both in and out of the boat- we had about a 50 percent success rate on staying upright in the first rapid. Shout out to Hasan our guide! Thanks for a great adventure!

Helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff, beautiful and exciting river.

The whole experience ran so smoothly - very organized crew.

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! The guides were totally awesome (thank you Ryan!) making sure your adventure is everything you want it to be. The guides went beyond expectation to ensure a wonderful experience. The lunch was great, the stops along the way were great… super fun and well worth the money. Recommend putting it on your bucket list!
