During my family vacation from Ontario to NB & P.E.I this summer, the 2016 GMC SIERRA that I just had serviced at Cliff Mills Motors in Oshawa ON (including an ALL FLUID REPLACEMENT) burnt out it’s transmission. We had just crossed the bridge to P.E.I. And were unable to make it to our Cavendish destination. I responded (online) to an add for a used Yukon and was immediately given a call from Dylan at Ron MacGillivray. After explaining that a used Yukon was not my first option, he mentioned a brand new Tahoe RST had just dropped to their lot and in only 4 days he had driven to us in PE.I. And we were on our way ! The polite professional courteous manner in which we were accommodated was very comforting and appreciated.

took my 2014 Trax in for a what was thought to be an electrical problem with my AC system. After a very through search by the technician (Doug) he discovered that the system was not working because the thermostat was stuck closed both the technician and service manager advised me that I should not drive my vehicle home and said they would get it fixed the next day. Returned the next day and all was completely repaired. Hats off to the service department staff who were courteous and went beyond to accommodate in getting our car back on the road. Andre and his staff are deserving of their five star rating.

Terrible record keeping and customer service is what I now associate with what once was a trusted dealer/service provider. REPEATEDLY did work without consent - same service advisor every time. Last visit was told prior that my work was under warranty, agreed to work as long as it fell under $100 deductible. Arrived to an almost $500 bill as they concluded that I did not have warranty- but they did work anyway. I had to personally accompany service manager to sales manager’s office where we “discovered” I had warranty. I left after waiting another 30 min for Tyler to figure out how to rectify/they rang through a $100 general charge of some sort to cover it on their end. Visit before that, oil change however engine check lite was on. I am well aware that many things can cause fault/usually misfire - my regular mechanic always (like RMG used to) runs a diagnostic for free to inform me of issue. Having been burned before by same advisor I very directly stated that I would not be paying to have light reset. Arrived for pickup- same advisor greeted me cheerfully with the news that oil change completed and light reset (charged for it of course). I refused to pay it - service manager agreed with me. Brought this up during warranty issue (above) - no records/just verification that I paid for oil change. Once upon a time - every visit to RMG ended with “if you don’t think you’ll be giving us a five star rating please tell us how we can change that”, now it seems like “how much can we ring you up for and there’s the door” Untrustworthy, condescending, inexperienced and not learning from mistakes- I’ll be driving to Heron for any future GM/Chev issues/purchases, ending an over 50 year association between that dealer and my family (parent one of their longest serving employees at that).

I'm a GMC fan. I'm on my 3rd truck because I like to buy a new one every couple of years. I bought my first 2 trucks from Ron's and can't complain. I'm the type of buyer that, if a salesman seen me looking at a truck they could probably easily talk me into upgrading. But that is probably my only complaint. When I'm there for maintenance reasons I always go and look at what's on the lot. And never does a salesman come out to see if I have questions.

*update, someone called me the following day after leaving this review. They apologize for this happening and I was invited up to look at another truck, but I wasn't able to make it there that day*

Well I keep getting text messages asking to rate my experience at Ron's. And it always sends me back to this review. So I'll add some more.

Truck prices need to come down.

I had this service centre do work on my 2020 Buick Encore . I was charged an exorbitant amount for both parts and labor . I was billed $614.80 for just 2 hours work of work . The service department manager defended the high cost by saying the mechanics shouldn’t be penalized for working quickly . However, after doing some research , I found out that I was charged for top-of-the-line parts but received lower quality ones . While the parts were not necessarily bad , the price I paid was outrageous . I will never return to this service centre for any future work on my vehicle .
